Living Sacrifices: Surrendering All to God From the Desk of Pastor Charles Barksdale

Dear Beloved Blog Readers,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Today, I want to address a crucial aspect of our faith journey—surrendering all to God. As followers of Christ, we are called to present ourselves as living sacrifices, offering our entire lives to God as an act of worship. In this article, we will delve into the significance and practical implications of living sacrificially, surrendering every aspect of our being to the loving hands of our Heavenly Father.

1. Understanding the Concept of Living Sacrifices:

In Romans 12:1, the Apostle Paul exhorts us to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. This powerful imagery draws from the Old Testament sacrificial system, where animals were offered on the altar as an act of worship and atonement for sin. However, in the new covenant, Jesus Christ became the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Therefore, our sacrifice is not one of death, but of a transformed life dedicated entirely to God.

2. Surrendering Our Bodies:

When we talk about presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, it encompasses more than just our physical form. It involves offering every aspect of our being—our thoughts, desires, emotions, talents, and actions—to God. Surrendering our bodies means allowing God to have complete control over our lives, aligning our will with His divine purpose.

3. The Call to Holiness:

Living sacrificially requires us to pursue holiness. We are called to separate ourselves from the patterns and values of the world and to be set apart for God's purposes. Our thoughts, speech, and actions should reflect the character of Christ. This pursuit of holiness stems from our desire to honor and glorify God in all that we do.

4. Trusting God's Plan:

Surrendering all to God demands that we trust His plan for our lives. It means relinquishing our own desires and ambitions, and embracing His perfect will. This can be challenging, especially when we face uncertainty or when God's plan seems different from our own. However, when we surrender our plans and dreams to Him, we can rest assured that His ways are higher and His plans are ultimately for our good.

5. Counting the Cost:

Living sacrificially requires counting the cost of following Christ. Jesus Himself said that whoever wants to be His disciple must deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Him (Luke 9:23). Surrendering all to God may involve sacrifice, self-denial, and stepping out of our comfort zones. Yet, the rewards of a surrendered life far outweigh the temporary sacrifices we make.

6. Embracing a Lifestyle of Surrender:

Surrendering all to God is not a one-time event but an ongoing process. It is a daily choice to submit our lives to Him and seek His guidance in every decision. As we cultivate a lifestyle of surrender, we experience the abundant life Jesus promised. We find peace, joy, and purpose in the knowledge that we are living in alignment with God's perfect plan for us.

Conclusion:

Dear friends, let us heed the call to present ourselves as living sacrifices to God. Surrendering all to Him is not an easy journey, but it is one marked by transformation, intimacy with God, and the fulfillment of our deepest longings. As we surrender every aspect of our being to God, may we experience the immeasurable love and grace that flow from a life fully dedicated to Him. Let us encourage one another on this journey, supporting and spurring each other on to live as living sacrifices, wholly surrendered to the will of our Heavenly Father.

In His Service,
