Seeking God's Wisdom in Decision Making


Scripture: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

Whether it's choosing a career path, making financial choices, or discerning God's will in various areas of our lives, the process of decision-making can be daunting. However, we are not left alone in this process. Our Heavenly Father promises to guide us and grant us wisdom if we seek Him. In this devotional, let us explore the significance of seeking God's wisdom in decision making and discover the blessings that come from aligning our choices with His will.


1. Acknowledging Our Limitations:

In our human nature, we are limited in our understanding and knowledge. We cannot foresee the consequences of our decisions nor comprehend the intricate details of the future. When we lean solely on our own understanding, we may find ourselves making choices that lead us astray or cause unnecessary hardships. However, when we acknowledge our limitations and turn to God, we open ourselves to His infinite wisdom and guidance.


2. Seeking God's Counsel through Prayer:

Prayer is a powerful tool that allows us to seek God's wisdom in decision making. As we bring our concerns, questions, and desires to Him, we invite His presence into the process. Through prayer, we align our hearts with His will and open ourselves to receive His guidance. It is in the quiet moments of prayer that we can hear His gentle whisper, guiding us in the right direction.


3. Meditating on God's Word:

The Word of God is a rich source of wisdom and guidance. By immersing ourselves in Scripture, we gain insight and understanding that can inform our decision-making process. Seeking wise and godly counsel is another important aspect of seeking God's wisdom in decision making. Surrounding ourselves with individuals who are grounded in faith and have a deep understanding of God's Word can provide valuable insights and perspectives that can help us make informed choices.


5. Trusting in God's Faithfulness:

Ultimately, seeking God's wisdom in decision making requires trust in His faithfulness. We must trust that He knows what is best for us and that He will guide us along the right path. As we surrender our decisions to Him and trust in His leading, we can have confidence that He will make our paths straight.
